Platinum Stars beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the Telkom Knockout Cup Final at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday night, thanks to a brilliant brace from Botswana international Mogakolodi Ngele.

Lucky Lekgwathi gave Pirates the led in the first half, but it was substitute Ngele who was the hero with two world class goals in the second half.

It was the second cup win of the season for Dikwena, who are also MTN8 champions, and they remain unbeaten in knockout competitions this season.

In the sixth minute Robert Ng'ambi had the first chance at goal for Dikwena, but his shot from just outside the area went over the goal.

A minute later Ng'ambi had another chance but his shot from the edge of the area was blocked.

In the 15th minute Solomon Mathe had a great chance from just inside the box, but he mis-kicked his attempt and Meyiwa was able to gather.

A minute later Happy Jele broke into the box, and squared the ball toward Sifiso Myeni, but Vuyo Mere made a last ditch tackle and cleared the ball.

Lucky Lekgwathi gave Pirates the lead in the 30th minute as he headed in a Daine Klate free kick past Siyabonga Mpontshane to make it 1-0.

In the 36th minute Ng'ambi did well to get onto the end of a deep cross from Tshepo Gumede, but his headed attempt went just wide to the right.

In the 42nd minute Tintswalo Tshabalala tried a shot from the right of goal, but it was saved by Senzo Meyiwa.

Two minutes later Lennox Bacela tried a bicycle kick, but his shot went wide to the left.

Just before half-time Klate tried from a free kick, but his attempt went wide to the right.

Three minutes into the second half Mpontshane was forced to make a great reflex save as Luvolwethu Mpeta almost scored an own goal.

In the 51st minute Myeni made a good run through the middle, but his shot was deflected out by Benson Mhlongo.

In the 56th minute Mhlongo tried a shot from outside the box, but it went wide of goal.

In the 71st minute substitute Collins Mbesuma was set up by Klate, but his shot was half blocked by Mhlongo and Mpontshane gathered easily.

A minute later Mbesuma had another chance from a tight angle, but Mpontshane closed him down well and parried it out for a corner.

Substitute Mogakolodi Ngele found the equalizer in the 78th minute when he danced through the defence, and shot from a tight angle to beat Meyiwa and make it 1-1.
