Free State Stars have completed a deal with goalkeeper Soumbeyla Diakite, bolstering the club’s keeper department ahead of the 2013/14 season.
It was recently revealed on the Soccer-Laduma web and mobi-site that the Malian shot-stopper had been linked with a move to the PSL.
The player impressed a number of clubs with his impressive performances while with the Mali national team in South Africa, during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Ea Lla Koto, Wits and SuperSport United all showed an interest in the player. However, following Kennedy Mweene’s move to Mamelodi Sundowns, Stars have acted quickly to secure Diakite’s services from Malian Premier League side, Stade Malien.
Stars have extended the one-year option on Tshepo Motsoeneng’s contract. Motsoeneng, Diakite and Celi Ndwandwe are expected to compete for the team’s number one jersey in Steve Komphela’s outfit.
