Ambitious Farmer Explains Maritzburg Move
Talented young defender, Denwin Farmer, has explained his move to Maritzburg United, suggesting that head coach, Fadlu Davids, had a big role to play in his decision.
The 21-year-old centre back has plenty of experience despite his young age, with the South African youth international having made his professional debut back in 2015 after breaking through the ranks at SuperSport United.
However, with the defender not managing to get much game-time under Eric Tinkler last season, the decision was made to let him leave the club, with Maritzburg the benefactors as they picked him up to join the likes of Keagan Buchanan as their new signings.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Farmer discussed his move to Pietermaritzburg from Tshwane, saying, “I’m delighted to play for a team like Maritzburg who have such a good support structure. Good coaches, great fans supporting the team… It’s a team where young players are given a chance, where one can grow and learn. I think it will be a team which I can fit into, and I will be able to add value to the team.
“I’m already learning a lot from Coach Fadlu, a great coach who is always helping me with my positional play, helping me grow as a player. I came here to showcase my talent, to show people what I’m really about, and to help the club win things.”
Farmer started training with the club when they got their pre-season underway, and will be hoping to try and fill the gap that was left when Bevan Fransman moved to Highlands Park.
