Farmer, 18, played a vital role for South Africa’s U20s in their Commonwealth Cup win in Russia recently, however will unfortunately not be available in Senegal next month.
The news will come as a blow to U20 coach, Thabo Senong, as Farmer is judged to be one of the most talented young defenders in the country at present.
The player’s representative, Paul Mitchell, confirmed the player’s surgery to the Siya crew, saying, “It’s unfortunate for Denwin, and really bad timing, but this is football and it’s part of the game. With the help of the SuperSport medical team we’re hoping that he’ll be back sooner rather than later.”
