Denis Onyango admitted that one of the players in the Mamelodi Sundowns team has not been getting the recognition that he deserves.
The Ugandan international was named in CAF’s Best XI for the year 2018, having been recognized by the Federation for the third time, following his stellar performances for both club and country.
However, speaking to the media, Onyango opened up about who, in the Sundowns setup he thinks deserves some recognition for their hard work.
“I definitely think Hlompho Kekana, he is a little bit unfortunate not to be mentioned among the best players on the continent but he has done well,” Onyango told the media.
“I think he deserves to be in the best players or the top players on the continent, but he keeps on fighting and I believe one day he will get the accolades. Even in the PSL, of course, they don’t recognize him that much but you can see the work ethic he puts in for the club and country and I believe one day it will pay off,” he added.
Kekana has been nominated for several awards during his professional career, in the Premier Soccer League, CAF and even for the prestigious FIFA Puskas award. However, the Sundowns captain is yet to take home an accolade for his achievements.
