Mamelodi Sundowns will assess Denis Onyango’s injury this week before making a prediction as to whether he will be able to feature again for them this season.
Onyango, 30, had to be stretchered off the field of play during Masandawana’s 3-1 win over Polokwane City last night after what looked like a hamstring injury, an injury that will come as a blow to Pitso Mosimane.
The Ugandan shot-stopper has been a vital member of Sundowns’ title bid this season, playing 18 games and keeping nine clean sheets as they marched to the 55-point mark in 24 games.
Now, with just six games left to play, there is a very real possibility that Mosimane’s number one ‘keeper may have to watch the title run-in from the sidelines.
Sundowns do have ample cover for Onyango in the shape of Kennedy Mweene and Wayne Sandilands, however the Ugandan has been in fine form this campaign and is probably a contender for the Goalkeeper of the Season award.
