Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, is said to be making quick progress in his recovery from injury.
The Ugandan, who has been the first choice goalkeeper for Downs this season, was stretchered off the field during his team’s 3-1 win over Polokwane City in the league last week, after picking up an injury.
Onyango missed the 2-0 win over Jomo Cosmos on the weekend, as a result of the injury. News coming through from the Sundowns camp is that the shot-stopper is making quick recovery progress in an attempt to force his way back into the 18-man match day squads for Pitso Mosimane’s side.
Although it was initially thought that the injury would force him to spend long spells on the sidelines, it is believed that Onyango might return sooner than expected.
The Brazilians will be hosting AS Vita Club in the CAF Champions League in their next game on Wednesday.
Wayne Sandilands, who was in goals for Sundowns against Cosmos, as well as Kennedy Mweene will be expected to be ready to play for Mosimane’s side in the continental competition, should Onyango be unavailable for competitive football on Wednesday.
