Dean Happy With Full PSL Debut

Young SuperSport United defender, Brandon Dean, says that he’s glad to have made his full PSL debut, and has thanked his teammates.

The 19-year-old defender was called upon by Cavin Johnson for the game against University of Pretoria following the injury to Sibusiso Khumalo, and managed to grab a clean sheet as Matsatsantsa won 1-0.

Dean, who came through SuperSport’s partnership with Stellenbosch University, spoke of his happiness after the game, saying, “First and foremost I am happy with the victory especially on my full debut and impressed with my performance but I still have to work even harder.

“It was a hard fought win against a well organised Tuks side under difficult conditions. This will most certainly boost our confidence going into our next match on Wednesday.”

The defender was one of four teenagers in Johnson’s starting XI against Tuks, with Skhumbuzo Mazibuko, 18, Morne Nel, 17, and Aupa Moeketsi, 19, all playing alongside him.

Dean went on, “I played with guys who are the same age as me and they have done well at this level, and that helped me to believe in myself and not doubt my abilities.

“The experience of guys like Bevan (Fransman) and Mor (Diouf) helped me a lot as well especially in the early stages. I’m just glad I have made my full debut and now I can look forward to grow within the team and contribute.”

With Khumalo expected to be out for a number of weeks, now could be Dean’s chance to introduce himself to the world of South African football, starting with SuperSport's game against leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, tomorrow night.
