Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa is pleased with how his players played during the three friendlies today.
Pirates played Congo Brazzaville’s AC Leopards in the morning and they won the game 1-0, courtesy of Aubrey Ngoma’s strike.
The Buccaneers then took on fellow PSL side Polokwane City at midday and they also won that game 2-1. Winger Daine Klate and Kermit Erasmus scored the goals for Pirates.
Pirates were then stunned 4-1 by NFD side United FC in their last and final game of the day, with Ndumiso Mabena scoring the consolation goal for Bucs.
"On the whole we did well, barring that last game which was a bit of a shambles. But from the day and how we used the players we are ok," De Sa told the official Pirates twitter account.
"It was important to have these friendlies today and give the whole squad a chance to play. Everyone got a full game and some even more.
“There were players we wanted to see, check on different combinations and setups and that was achieved today,” added De Sa.
One of the players who got a chance to play was goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.
"Dauda got a full game today. It was very important that we get him as ready as possible because he has a big year ahead with the World Cup," explained De Sa.
Pirates will take on SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
