Davids: We Have Ourselves To Blame
Maritzburg United interim coach, Fadlu Davids suggested that his side were their own worst enemy in the 2-0 loss against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night.
The Team Of Choice were condemned to their ninth loss of the season following strikes by Ayanda Gcaba and Dove Wome, however the Maritzburg mentor highlighted his side's inability to kill of the games citing their numerous missed opportunities.
"I think we have ourselves to blame," he said in post-match comments.
"In the first-half, we unlocked them three, four, fives times, but if you don't score you goals - you concede a soft goal like you did and then you can only blame yourself.
"We should've been four goals up with the chances we created. We unlocked them tactically and credit must go to the players.
"On the one hand, I want to say well done to my players, because they really fought. Even in the second half, we were down to ten-men, it looked like Pirates were down to ten-men so on the one hand you want to say congratulations to ours players - they did well, but you've got to be more smart, more professional in terms of not getting the second yellow card and keeping the structure. In those aspects, we could've done better," he concluded.
