Despite playing out a goalless draw with Orlando Pirates on Friday, Maritzburg maintained top spot as well as their unbeaten start to the Absa Premiership season.

"I'm extremely proud of the boys this evening. We get into our third game in six games and the second half you can see that the tired legs are coming up," Davids told SuperSport after the match.

"They grinded. They pushed even playing with ten men.

"In the first half we could have been 3-0 up. But in the end analysing the second half I'm extremely proud of the boys.

"Tactically they [Pirates] were doing well and made it tough for us. We could have done better but it's understandable with a third game in six days."
