Bloemfontein Celtic defender, Clayton Daniels, has defended his decision to sign a pre-contract with SuperSport United, saying he is going to Tshwane to fight for a place in the team.
The Bishop Lavis-born player has been at Celtic since the beginning of the season, after he signed from Mamelodi Sundowns where he fell out of favour with Pitso Mosimane.
Critics believe his move to Matsatsantsa a Pitori will backfire, as they are looking stable in central defence and he is enjoying his game under Ernst Middendorp. However, ‘Hare’, as he is affectionately known, says he has nothing to worry about.
He told the Siya crew, “Ja, even when I moved from Ajax Cape Town to Sundowns, I knew Sundowns is a big team and I was going to fight with big players. Me, I’m always willing for a challenge. Even coming to Celtic, I knew they have good quality players and that I have to work hard and fight for my position.
"It’s not like I come and my position is secure and I’m relaxed. No, I’m not like that. I’m not that kind of character. I’m a character that comes to work every day, does his best and puts everything on the table. That’s it.”
