Chiefs Star Lands New Amakhosi Contract
Daniel Cardoso Has Signed A New Contract At Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs defender, Daniel Cardoso, has been rewarded for his form in Amakhosi colours this season, with the club handing him a new long-term contract.
Cardoso, who is currently away on Bafana Bafana duty, has put in a number of excellent performances for the Glamour Boys this season, playing almost every game and winning numerous Man of the Match awards.
The Siya crew reported recently that the 29-year-old and Chiefs were close to reaching an agreement regarding a new deal, and that the deal on the table could potentially take him through to 2022.
Now, according to Siya sources, it is believed that the former Free State Stars defender has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with a one-year option in a deal that could take him through to past his 32nd birthday.
With 2077 minutes played in the league, no Glamour Boys player has featured more under Steve Komphela this season, and his 22 starts is equalled only by the club’s first choice goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.
Cardoso had been due to see his deal at the club expire at the end of the season, and even attracted interest from Bidvest Wits, but it was always thought that his first choice was to remain at Naturena.
With his future now settled, the central defender can now focus on finishing the season strongly and helping his club challenge for silverware as 2017/18 comes to an end.
