Foppe De Haan will make his return to Ajax Cape Town next year and Soccer Laduma takes a look at which current Premier League stars was coached by the Dutchman.
Ajax nearly won the 2010/11 league title under the mentorship of De Haan, with the Urban Warriors falling short on goal difference to Orlando Pirates who went on to lift the title.
A heartbreaking 2-2 draw with Maritzburg United saw the Urban Warriors end the 2010/11 campaign at second placed, although joint on points with league winners, Pirates.
At the time, De Haan had an exciting squad to work which included many young players, such as Khama Billiat, Thulani Serero, Sameehg Doutie, Lebogang Manyama, Thulani Hlatshwayo, George Maluleka, Granwald Scott, Thulani Serero, the late Cecil Lolo, Thato Mokeke and Mario Booysen who were all under the age of 23.
The squad also consisted of more older players such as Clayton Daniels and Nazeer Allie, with former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper, Hans Vonk the number one goalkeeper in between the sticks at the time.
De Haan will now be taking over another young squad in the second half of the 2018/19 National First Division, as the Urban Warriors look to continue on their fight for promotion to the Absa Premiership.
