In Soccer Laduma issue number 1032, the Siya crew revealed that the Glamour Boys have could rekindle the interest shown in 2015 for the man that scored nine goals last season and we now take a look at his outstanding quality.
Mhango was the third top scorer in the PSL last season (9 goals) and his 0.49 goals per 90 only trailed Tendai Ndoro (0.53 goals per 90). He also led the league with 3.88 shots per 90, as his 1.97 danger zone shots per 90 ranked third in the division. In this regard, Chiefs would be getting a player who likes to shoot, should a deal be struck.
The only Chiefs player that managed to take more than 30 shots last season was Siphiwe Tshabalala with neither Bernard or Parker averaging more than 2.25 shots per game.
In fact, as a team, Chiefs managed just 11.7 shots per game last season (the fifth worst average in the league). If one added Mhango’s return to the collective tally, Chiefs would have taken the most shots per 90 in the league, with 15.58 edging out the league leaders, Free State Stars, who took 15.4 per game, although one would have to deduct other striker’s tallies as well, making that number difficult to determine.
With that said, Chiefs will be concerned about their relative lack of impetus in front of goal and, by virtue not only of his goal return but his shot frequency, Gabadinho could be the man to add some much-needed firepower to the team.
Do you think Chiefs need to sign Mhango during this transfer window?
