Solinas To Make Chiefs’ Bench v Sundowns?

Kaizer Chiefs have just a few days left to try and finalise Giovanni Solinas’ South African work permit ahead of this weekend’s showpiece friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Italian was confirmed as the new Glamour Boys head coach last week as the club finally brought an end to months of speculation, although he was unable to take his place on the bench during the Maize Cup due to the fact that he didn’t have his paperwork.
Chiefs take on Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, with the game due to get underway at 15h00, although - as reported in today's issue of Soccer Laduma - it remains to be seen whether it will be Patrick Mabedi or Solinas calling the shots from the touchline.
Solinas has twice worked in the Absa Premiership before – both times with Free State Stars – and his familiarity with the process could potentially help his cause in terms of streamlining his application.
The club has already confirmed that it is in the process of getting things sorted for the 50-year-old, although it could potentially be too much of an ask to get it done by Saturday afternoon.
If Solinas doesn’t manage to have his permit resolved by the weekend, Chiefs should have enough time to at least get the matter put to bed by the time the league kicks off on August 4th.
What do you think of Solinas’ appointment?
