Amajita Snatch A Point In COSAFA Opener

The men's South African U-20 side began their COSAFA U20 Championship with a 2-2 draw against Zimbabwe on Thursday afternoon.

South Africa have had great success in the COSAFA tournaments recently, with both Banyana Banyana and the men's U17 side winning their respective tournaments last month.

Rowan Human, who has impressed in Israel this season, was handed the captain's armband while SuperSport United attacker Oswin Appollis also got a start.

The Zimbabweans got the game's opening goal after Panashe Mutimbanyoka opened the scoring after just eight minutes into the first stanza.

South Africa were unable to find a reply in the opening 45 minutes, but they were back on level terms shortly after the halftime break through Appollis' finish.

Helman Mkhalele then re-shuffled the pack on 70 minutes, with Sinenjongo Mkiva making way for Kaizer Chiefs striker Keletso Sifama.

It was Zimbabwe who got the next goal eight minutes later courtesy of a strike from Lexington Mujokoro.

However, Amajita managed to bag the equaliser in second-half stoppage time, with Mohlala Makola getting the important goa,
