As predicted by the Siya crew earlier today, the Premier Soccer League have today announced Brand de Villiers as the league’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
De Villiers comes in to replace Cambridge Mokonyane, who has occupied the role of acting CEO since the exit of Stan Matthews last year.
PSL chairman, Irvin Khoza, confirmed De Villiers’ appointment, explaining that the new CEO would be taking over the post on July 2. Khoza said that De Villiers has vast experience in running sports and that he is a great choice for the CEO position.
Speaking at a press conference held at the PSL’s headquarters in Parktown, De Villiers said that he hopes to contribute. He said, “It’s a privilege to be involved with one of the best leagues in the world. I hope to make a meaningful contribution.”
