Amajita Into Commonwealth Cup Final

Amajita booked their place in the Commonwealth Cup final after defeating Belarus 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out, after it ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Belarus started the first half well but Amajita got more into the game as the half went close in the 30th minute, as Siyanda Ngubo headed wide from a free-kick.

That was as good as it got in the opening 45 minutes, as the sides went into the halftime break with the score locked at 0-0.

It was more of the same in the opening exchanges of the second half, although Pule Maraisane saw his low effort from distance saved by Belarus keeper Denis Scherbitsky in the 51st minute.

Amajita continued to search for the opener and went close in the 70th minute with Denwin Farmer going close with a overhead kick.

However, Belarus took the lead three minutes later as striker Vladslav Klimovich slotted past Dumisani Msibi, after a swift counter attack.

It looked as if Amajita's campaign would come to end, until they were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, which the captain, Motjeka Madisha, converted.

The game the went to penalties and goalkeeper, Dumisani Msibi, was the hero, saving two spot-kicks to help Amajita triumph 4-3 in the shoot-out.

Amajita now advance to Sunday's final where they will play Finland, who beat Turkmenistan 4-0 in the other semi-final, before flying home on Tuesday.

The core of this generation of u20s have now reached their third final in a row, having won the Zone VI games in 2012 and Cosafa Cup in 2013. In 2014 they qualified for March's 2015 CAF u20 Championships, where the top four teams will qualify for the u20 World Cup.
