Following reports that former Ajax Cape Town shareholders John and George Comitis were possibly looking at reviving Hellenic, who once graced the topflight in South Africa, it was more recently rumoured that the Comitis brothers were looking at buying National First Division outfit, Blackburn Rovers.
Rovers’ owner Dumisani Mcedane was slapped with a four-year suspension after assaulting match officials and subsequently decided to put the club up for sale.
Initially it was thought that the Comitis brothers were keen to take over the East London based club. However, George Comitis has denied the rumours and insisted there is no truth to it.
Comitis told Soccer-Laduma, “Look, I heard about the rumours and even the Rovers owner Ncedane phoned me, but it isn’t true.
“I received many calls regarding the possibility of buying the franchise, but for now I can say there is nothing happening.”
