NFD side FC Cape Town have appointed John Comitis as the club’s Technical Advisor for the 2013/14 season.
Comitis had been an influential administrator at Ajax Cape Town over the years, since the club’s formation in 1999. However, he left the club last month, alongside with his brother George, after they decided to sell their shares to the Efstathiou family.
Comitis had been appointed as Ajax’s Honorary Life Chairman while still at the club, while his brother was the club’s CEO.
FC Cape Town have confirmed Comitis' appointment, with the club’s Chairman, Errol Dicks, having released a statement.
“We are privileged to announce that Mr. John Comitis has joined FC Cape Town as Technical Advisor. Mr Comitis, who is a legendary icon of professional football in SA, will not only pass on his intellectual property to our young aspiring team at FC Cape Town, but will also guide us with the restructure based on good corporate governance.
"The achievements of Mr. Comitis at both Ajax Cape Town and the PSL is very well documented and it is with excitement that we look forward to his continued contribution to not only FC Cape Town but the entire South African football fraternity. It is with pride we welcome him,” read the statement.
