The 2015/16 PSL campaign's top goalscorer, Collins Mbesuma, is set to join Highlands Park after being released by the club formally known as Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Although the player ended last season as the Absa Premiership's top goalscorer with 14 strikes, Mbesuma was not included in the plans for new club Cape Town City's squad, and was released after his contract had come to an end after the 2015/16 campaign.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, sources have revealed that the striker had attracted interest from both Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows. Celtic's Serame Letsoaka was keen to add the Zambian to his squad for the new season, but indications are that Phunya Sele Sele and the player were unable to agree terms.
Highlands have now moved swiftly to secure the 32-year-old's signature, and the newly promoted club is set to bolster their squad in preparation for life in the PSL, so will be hoping Mbesuma can add to their goals tally.
Sources close to the Siya crew have reported that the free agent is close to joining the promoted side, and it is believed that a deal is close to being completed, and could be finalised before the beginning of the new PSL campaign.
