Mpumalanga Black Aces striker, Collins Mbesuma, reveals why he thinks no other striker have come close to breaking his 35-goal haul that he set with Kaizer Chiefs in 2004/05.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview, 'Ntofontofo' said he doesn’t know what the problem is regarding low-scoring strikers in the PSL.
“To be honest, I can’t really say what the problem is. I think it's just about strikers working hard on finishing. We have to always do extra training and make sure that we perfect our scoring abilities."
Mbesuma, who currently leads the top-scorer charts in the ABSA Premiership with 13 goals, could go onto become the first player ever to top-score in the PSL in two different seasons.
“I believe that practice makes you permanent and not perfect. Maybe I should also say that defenders have become cleverer compared to years gone by. There is too much information now compared to in the past. Many things have changed and there are things such as analysing and watching videos of the opponents,” Mbesuma told Soccer Laduma.
“It is no longer about coming to training and going back home. The standard of football has improved tremendously, compared to when I first arrived here,” he concluded.
Who do you regard as the best ever striker to have played in the PSL?
