The off-season may have begun, but it’s not slowing down in the Absa Premiership with another new deal being confirmed.
It was reported earlier today by the Siya crew that Eric Tinkler had penned a new two-year deal with Maritzburg United, and that deal has now been announced by the the Team of Choice.
After surviving relegation by putting together a seven-game unbeaten streak - their longest since February 2018 - the focus is now on the future of the club, with Tinkler at the helm.
Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, Tinkler said, “On the field of play, let’s not look to make massive changes, because I think that’s just going to confuse everyone. I want to try and rebuild what was good, what they know, and bring a positive vibe to training and to the club.”
Meanwhile, the club’s chairman, Farook Kadodia, was full of praise, adding, “There seems to be a real synergy between the coach and Maritzburg United, and we are confident that he is the right man to take us forward and get us back where we want to be, challenging for a position in the top eight as a minimum."
Tinkler oversaw a big turnaround in Maritzburg’s fortunes, and they’ve won six of their last seven games.
