It’s been officially confirmed to the Siya crew that there’s been further changes in the technical team of one of the DStv Premiership clubs.
Shaun Bartlett is leaving TS Galaxy – at his own request.
“With the new regime at TS Galaxy, coach Shaun approached us to discuss his senior position, which he feels to some extent has been lessened,” chairman Tim Sukazi explained to Soccer Laduma when called for comment.
Since the departure of Owen da Gama late last month, The Rockets have gone in a different direction by recruiting his replacement as well as a technical director.
“This is understandable given the arrival of our new coach Sead Ramovic, who also roped in a new technical director in Mensur Dogan – someone with a UEFA Pro License and now in the role of assistant coach as well,” Sukazi elaborated on Bartlett’s exit.
“I would have hoped our coach would learn from him (Dogan). You don’t just get a UEFA Pro License by chance. But it is coach Shaun’s choice regarding the way forward for his career. As a club, we would have wanted to invest in him and try make the efforts to also get him into Europe and possibly have him work on getting the Pro License as well. However, that can only happen if he is at TS Galaxy and nowhere else. Shaun Bartlett is a great servant and we wish him well for his future endeavors.”
Bartlett, a former Bafana Bafana striker, has extensive experience as a coach in the PSL now following stints at Golden Arrows, University of Pretoria and Kaizer Chiefs, his last club before working alongside Da Gama at TS Galaxy and has also been part of the national team techincal staff under then coach Stuart Baxter.
His next step remains to be seen.
