Maritzburg United's dismal run of luck with injuries appears to be no closer to ending. The club are already without almost 10 key first team regulars due to various injuries at different stages of recovery.
The latest to suffer a serious injury is experienced left back Ruben Cloete. The 30-year-was involved in a sickening collision with Platinum Stars defender Vuyo Mere, in the club's recent 2-0 defeat in the Telkom Knockout.
This was revealed to the Siya crew by United's Team Manager, Quintin Jettoo.
He said, "Ruben has a fracture on his cheekbone as a result of Mere's knee. The X-rays show he has a fracture and he's going to see a facial specialist. We have to see if he'll need some slight reconstructive surgery.
"It's not a break and we're fortunate for that. We'll know after the operation is done exactly were we stand about how long he'll be out for."
