Mamelodi Sundowns are on top of the Q3 league standings after beating Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, but Wits are hoping to be crowned the winners as they still have a mathematical chance.
The Brazilians have collected 18 points in eight games, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Black Aces, both on 16 points, in second and third position with eight games as well.
However, Wits still have a game in hand and are sitting in fourth place with 15 points. The tricky part is that they will have to win by more than three goals in order to walk away with the R1.5 million prize money on offer, as Sundowns have a better goals difference.
The game that will decide Q3 will be between the Clever Boys and Orlando Pirates on 30 April and Gavin Hunt’s side will have a mammoth task trying to put three over Bucs and hoping not to concede on the day.
