Polokwane City have missed out on their transfer target Josephy Kamwendo, after the former Orlando Pirates midfielder signed for TP Mazembe. The 2012/13 NFD champions had their sights set on the talented player to boost their side in preparation for life in the PSL.
But reports from Malawi have emerged that Kamwendo has signed for TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kamwendo impressed the former African Champions League winnerss during a CAF Confederation Cup game recently.
The 26-year-old played for Mozambican Premier League side Liga Muculmana in that game. Mazembe signed him as a free agent after the expiry of his contract with Muculmana.
A source close to the Limpopo outfit confirmed that Kamwendo was on the club’s radar for the new season. Ironically, Mazembe is the same club that gave Kamwendo’s former club, Pirates, a tough time in DRC during this year’s CAF Champions League campaign.
