A number of Baroka FC players received minor injuries following an accident on Sunday evening near Naboomspruit. They are currently in a Polokwane hospital but could be released within the next few hours.
The club’s technical team were travelling ahead in another vehicle when they received a call for help after the team’s minibus hit a car, which was trying to avoid a calf in the road.
“That’s when the two vehicles collided before our minibus hit a tree,” said Baroka coach Sello Chokoe. “With the impact the players were thrown forward, injuring their legs. Six of my boys ended up in hospital. I’m still waiting for the medical report but no one has broken any bones, basically it’s just dislocations and bruises.”
Some of the injured include Tsepho Mothiba, Malesela Ramphela, Mathari Mothupa, Thabo Ralebakeng and Thabiso Kutumela.
“Although our vehicle was a write-off, fortunately nobody was seriously injured,” concluded Chokoe.
