Chiukepo Msowoya could find himself in trouble and face a lengthy ban from football after allegedly being involved in the beating of a match referee.
The Malawian and former Orlando Pirates striker, who is currently on the books of Nyasa Big Bullets in Malawi, allegedly beat referee Mischeck Juwa during a match last weekend.
Bullets were playing against Blue Eagles in the Airtel Top 8 Cup Final at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.
According to reports from Malawi, all hell broke loose after the match official awarded a penalty to Eagles during injury time of the match for a foul inside the box.
Eagles scored from the resultant spot kick which led to them winning the match 1-0 much to the dismay of opposition fans at the packed Bingu National Stadium.
In a video circulating on social media, Msowoya can be seen violently charging at the referee before other players and fans joined in. The match official was rescued by the police. Football Association of Malawi has said that stern measures are going to be taken against the perpetrators on acts of tarnishing the image of football after the referee and match commissioner reports were received.
