Orlando Pirates’ league match that is to be played in Port Elizabeth has been confirmed by Chippa United who will be their opponents.
The Chilli Boys have confirmed that their first home Absa Premiership match of the 2018/19 season will be against Bucs in the Eastern Cape.
Chippa were hoping to have Thabo Matlaba and Bernard Morrison joining them from Pirates for the new season, with the club having already announced signing the two players last week.
However, it turned out that only Thamsanqa Sangweni is joining the Chilli Boys after the failed moves for Matlaba and Morrison.
“*ABSA Premiership Loading* Catch the Chilli Boys as they take on the Buccaneers in our first home fixture of the season (Edited),” tweeted Chippa.
Chippa have communicated the contract details for Sangweni, confirming that the central midfielder has been signed on a two-year deal. Furthermore, the club has confirmed the return of midfielder Buyani Sali after he initially parted ways with them at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Chippa’s first match of the season will be on 05 August against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium, while Bucs will be at home at the Orlando Stadium against Highlands Park on 04 August for their first match.
In other news, it has been confirmed to the Siya crew that Chippa have strengthened their technical team with the addition of Riedoh Berdien who has joined the club as conditioning coach.
Berdien was previously with Free State Stars.
