Moloi: A Hard One To Swallow
Chippa United Players Encouraged To Be Strong
Chippa United coach, Teboho Moloi, has encouraged his players to be strong after their loss to Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout.
The Chilli Boys lost 1-0 against Chiefs in their TKO quarter-final game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
“I am proud of my players and have no doubt that they will grow in character following this defeat. It’s a hard one to swallow when you lose under these circumstances, but they have to be stronger,” Moloi has been quoted on Chippa’s website.
Moloi has explained why Kurt Lentjies, who has been impressive since joining Chippa from Maritzburg United, started on the bench against Chiefs.
“I knew that Steve (Kompela) having worked with Kurt, had a plan for him, hence I used Andile. He gave us a lot when he came on in the second half, he is an influential player, and he cried after the game.
“It showed how badly at his age, he wanted to win this trophy for the club. We will continue to work on the last attacking third, and various aspects of our game. We need to remain focused, there is a lot to play for in the league in the next few weeks. Our ambition is to compete in Africa, and we will give it a go again in the Nedbank Cup,” concluded Moloi.
Chippa are scheduled to play back-to-back matches against Free State Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns after the FIFA international break.
