As predicted by the Siya crew, Kosta Papic has penned a deal with PSL returnees, Chippa United, and will be leading the team in the new season.
Soccer Laduma revealed on Tuesday that the two parties were set to conclude talks regarding the Serbian mentor taking charge of the side, after plans to lure Steve Komphela appeared to fail. The Maritzburg United head coach was said to have already signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Chilli Boys, but there seemed to be a glitch with regards to his exit at the Team of Choice.
However, there has been no official comment from Chippa as yet about Papic taking over, but sources close to the deal have confirmed that Papic will be the new coach for the side in the 2014/15 season.
As such, expect the Philippi-based team to make an announcement within the next week.
Papic was in charge of Black Leopards in the National First Division last season, and missed out on promotion to the elite league by a whisker, and will relish the challenge of returning to the PSL, having coach Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs before.
