Chippa United are in discussions with Atletico Madrid about forming a partnership with the Spanish club.
Chippa chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi, confirmed to the Siya crew that his club has been in talks with a delegation from the Spanish club about a partnership.
Among other issues, Chippa and Atletico are having plans to work hand in hand in their development structures with the aim of benefiting both clubs.
The Port Elizabeth outfit is hoping that the La Liga side will invest in them financially, as they aim to work towards becoming one of the best teams in South Africa under the tutelage of coach Dan Malesela.
The Chilli Boys are working closely together with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and the Department of Sport and Recreation in the Eastern Cape.
One of Mpengesi’s long-term goals for Chippa is to build an academy in the Eastern Cape, with a view to nurture talented young footballers from disadvantaged backgrounds from areas such as East London, Mthatha and across the province.
