Chippa Pay Small Price For Former Pirates Winger
Chippa United Have Only Paid A Small Price For Former Orlando Pirates Winger
Ajax Cape Town has not cashed in on the full transfer of their departed winger, Mark Mayambela.
The Siya crew revealed on Sunday, July 15, that Mayambela along with the likes of Orlando Pirates’ Brighton Mhlongo were set to make their way to Chippa United this week after a deal was agreed on between the parties involved.
Chippa officially confirmed the signing of Mhlongo yesterday, July 18, with Mayambela subsequently being announced today.
Mayambela was instrumental in the Ajax setup, scoring three and assisting two goals for the team last season.
It was revealed to Soccer Laduma last month that Ajax Cape Town exercised the added one-year option on the player’s contract after it was reported that the club will be open to the sale of the player.
A source within the know has since revealed that the Chilli Boys only paid a small compensation fee for the services of Mayambela, as he had just one year left to run on his contract with Ajax.
Ajax signed Mayambela as a free agent last year, August and despite the player being on the club’s payroll for twelve months, the club opted to let the winger go for just a small compensation fee instead of cashing in on the full transfer.
