Breaking: Chippa Sign Laffor & Konqobe

Chippa United have announced signing Anthony Laffor and Ayabulela Konqobe.

The Eastern Cape has issued an official statement confirming that the two stars are immediately available for selection for Dan Malesela's side for this weekend's match against his former team TS Galaxy.

Internationals Laffor, Konqobe Are New Additions To The Chilli Boys Family

"Chippa United Football Club is excited to announce two additions to the squad with the acquisition of two internationals in Anthony Laffor and Ayabulela Konqobe," Chippa confimed in a statement confirmed by the club.

"The duo have signed until the end of the season with an option of renewing their stay in Port Elizabeth for a further two seasons. They are both available for selection with the team preparing to play TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership fixture at Mbombela Stadium tomorrow afternoon," read the statement.

"Laffor, the 35-year-old Liberian international star, carries a decorated career in South Africa and on the continent with seven league titles as well as a CAF Champions League winner's medal. Konqobe (25) is the former South African Under-20 national captain who is in his second spell with the Chilli Boys. He plays in both defence and midfield, as he returns after a stint playing in Finland," confirmed the Chilli Boys.

In officially unveiling the duo, coach Dan Malesela said, “I am thrilled to have the experience of both Anthony and Ayabulela to bolster our squad. We welcome them both to the Chilli Boys family, as we look at reinforcing in key positions, and also towards our ambitions for this season.”

In further team updates, goalkeepers Ismail Watenga and Mlungisi Mazibuko as well as assistant coach Siyabulela Gwambi also form part of the travelling party for the fixture in Mbombela this weekend.

Meanwhile, Laffor's representative Steve Kapeluschnik told the Siya crew, “I can confirm that Anthony Laffor has joined Chippa United. He is fit and really excited to reignite his career. Anthony is a great professional who’s won several trophies with Mamelodi Sundowns and we are excited to see him back in action.”
