Mayambela And Mashego Blow For Chippa
Chippa To Be Without Stars For Maritzburg Clash
Chippa United have confirmed the unavailability of two of the team’s top players for their upcoming match.
This week, The Chilli Boys are travelling to KwaZulu-Natal for the match against Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.
The Port Elizabeth club confirmed that Mark Mayambela and Katleho Mashego are set to miss the match.
Chippa took to the club’s official website to confirm the injuries for Teboho Moloi’s team:
Mark ‘Professor’ Mayambela
Mayambela sustained a nasty injury to his shin during training. Moloi said on Mayambela; “Key player for us and I am hoping to unleash him in front of the home fans when we welcome Platinum Stars. He has not featured this year but is a player that is very important to us for what he brings to the team.”
Katlego ‘Mahoota’ Mashego
Katlego Mashego sustained a hamstring strain against Golden Arrows and will be out for 1 to 2 weeks.
Moloi said; “It is a huge blow to lose Katlego, I feel he was combining very well with Mxolisi Macuphu before we were forced to sub him early in the game. We are glad that he will not be sidelined for long.”
The club has also given an update on respective injuries for Brighton Mhlongo and Ayabulela Konqobe.
Brighton ‘Spider’ Mhlongo
Mhlongo has been training through pain in his tendon on his right big toe and is being rested while undergoing treatment to allow him to recover fully. He will be assessed by the Medical Team on Thursday.
Ayabulela ‘Nesta’ Konqobe
He had a knee problem and missed the game against Golden Arrows and has re-joined the squad in training this week.
