ABSA Premiership
Result: AmaZulu 1-2 Chippa
Date: 18 May 2013
Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium
Chippa United claimed a 2-1 win away to AmaZulu but it was not enough to move them out of the bottom two.
Ajax Cape Town won at the same time, which means that Chippa United will have to take part in the promotion/relegation play-off.
Bongani Ndulula had put Usuthu ahead in the match but Brent Carelse's second-half double turned the game around for the Chilli Boys.
The hosts got off to the perfect start when Ndulula showed determination to poke an attempted clearance home from close range after the goalkeeper had made a fantastic save.
The Chilli Boys had a chance from a set-piece after 17 minutes but Mbulelo Mabizela couldn't convert a cross from Tshepo Tomanyane.
The equaliser would arrive before the break though as William Twala was brought down by Philani Cele and Carelse slotted the resulting penalty.
Usuthu could have hit back after the interval but Andile Khumalo was denied by a superb save on the hour mark while he fluffed a second opportunity soon after.
Chippa would boost their hopes of survival with 15 minutes to go as Mkhanyiseli Siwahla went down under a challenge from Goodman Dlamini in the area and Carelse again struck from the spot.
Despite claiming the spoils, Chippa still have work to do in the promotion/relegation play-offs after Ajax Cape Town won at the same time - leaving Chippa second from bottom.
