Chippa United defender Mbulelo Mabizela is still absent from the club’s training sessions, with the team currently preparing for their PSL Relegation/Promotion Playoff game against Santos on June 23.
With the speculation that the defender has gone AWOL, the club has since revealed that he is currently nursing an injury.
Mabizela missed the team’s first game of the playoffs against Santos at the Philippi Stadium on May 29, due to his late return from KZN. The former Bafana Bafana captain had been granted permission to attend to family issues back home.
Chippa’s media officer, Lukanyo Mzinzi, informed the Siya crew that the player is expected back at training soon.
“Mbulelo is around. It’s just that he is carrying a knee injury. He has a knee injury that is troubling him. But I think he is coming alright now. He is sometimes available because he is busy with rehabilitation. I think he is going to resume training soon,” said Mzinzi.
The Chilli Boys are hoping for a good result in the Cape derby against Santos. Mark Harrison gave his players a few days to recuperate after their loss against Mpumalanga Black Aces two weeks ago.
