Chippa United players have been reminded of the importance to collect as many points as possible to add to their tally, in the remaining games of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season.
The Chilli Boys are still searching for their first win of the year, under Ernst Middendorp. The side has drawn two and lost two of their four league games under the German coach.
The team sits 11th on the PSL log. Chippa’s CEO, Peter Koutroulis, has described their league game against Orlando Pirates tonight as crucial for their cause.
“The game against Pirates is a big one for us. It is a crucial game. We need the points. We’ll go and play Pirates with respect, they are a big club. But we believe that we can come with something out of the game. Everybody (at Chippa) understand that we need the points. We’ll take it from there,” said Koutroulis.
Chippa beat Pirates 1-0 when the two teams played in the first round league game in Port Elizabeth in September.
“Look, we can’t talk about beating them in the first round anymore. Pirates is a big club. This is the second round and look what happened the other day when SuperSport United lost 5-2 against AmaZulu.
"Yes, we are confident and the players understand what the situation is right now. It is always good when all the players are available for the coach to select, but (William) Twala and Ugonna (Uzochukwu) are unavailable due to yellow cards.
"But we have replacements. Each and every player we have is ready to be selected by the coach. We believe that we have good replacements,” explained Koutroulis.
