Following a number of forfeited matches, Kaizer Chiefs have gone on to win the Gauteng Monday Reserve League.
Chiefs’ Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates, lead the reserve league for the majority of the season, however after forfeiting their final three games, they handed the title to Chiefs’ reserve side.
The Buccaneers were unable to honour their games against University of Pretoria, Chiefs and SuperSport United, with all of their opponents being granted 3-0 wins. Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys were handed another 3-0 victory against Jomo Cosmos, with Ezenkosi unable to honour their fixture.
Due to the aforementioned eventualities, Chiefs finished top of the league, tied on 27 points with Pirates, but claimed the title due to their superior goal difference.
Following Chiefs’ Absa Premiership winning championship, the club’s management will be delighted that they have also managed to claim victory with their reserve side.
