After tonight’s round of PSL fixtures, it will become clearer as to who will walk away winners of the Q3 innovation.
In the latest PSL table, Kaizer Chiefs lead the standings with 16 points after seven games and Mamelodi Sundowns lag just behind with one point less after the same number of games. Bloemfontein Celtic, in third spot, have 14 points after seven games and Mpumalanga Black Aces are in fourth place with 13 points, having also played seven games.
Ironically, Chiefs are playing AmaZayoni and Sundowns are facing Phunya Sele Sele in some of tonight’s games and the results from these do-or-die encounters could decide who will walk away winners of the R1.5 million prize money that is on offer. All that Chiefs need is a victory to win the gong for the second time this year, having also bagged the Q2 honours.
In sixth place, Wits have played six games and have collected 12 points, meaning they are also in contention to win Q3, provided that the Amakhosi falter. Tonight, they face a wounded Platinum Stars at home. Maritzburg United, in fifth place with 13 points after seven games, also have a chance.
