Kaizer Chiefs legend and current U19 coach, Arthur Zwane, wants his side to be very competitive when they take part in the Metropolitan U19 Premier Cup taking place from 16 - 21 April.
The annual 32-team event is a well established tournament which takes place every Easter in Cape Town, and winning the prestigious youth cup is something that is highly prized by teams across the country.
Other professional outfits in the PSL to be sending U19 teams are the likes of Ajax Cape Town, AmaZulu, Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns, University of Pretoria and SuperSport United.
It could be that Wits may be one of the favourites to take the title - the Clever Boys youth structures have enjoyed impressive growth in recent times, and the club's U17s recently won the Safa U17 National Championships. The Bidboys beat Chiefs 3-0 in the final.
Nonetheless, Zwane is optimistic his young Amakhosi side can put up a stiff challenge and really compete for the Metropolitan title. He told the club's official website, “It is another opportunity for us to measure the progress of our development structures. We are going there to compete and also allow the boys to enjoy playing against their peers in a tournament setup. Everyone is upbeat and looking forward to the trip."
The Glamour Boys U19s will start their tournament against Mother City-based side, Beacon Spurs, on Thursday (April 17). The following day they face another Cape team, Milano United.
Thereafter, they conclude their Group G commitments against Masidlale on Saturday (April 19). The knockout stages of the competition will take place after the qualifiers for the later stages have been determined.
The Siya crew will report back on how all of the teams progress in the tournament.
