Knowledge Musona is one of three Kaizer Chiefs players to have been called up to the Zimbabwe national team, to face Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, 10 September 2013.
Kingston Nkhatha and Willard Katsande are the other two Chiefs player to have earned a call to the Zim squad for tomorrows international friendly.
Musona and Nkhatha were not called up for Zimbabwe’s recent World Cup qualifier in which the Warriors drew 1-1 with Mozambique. Although holding midfielder, Katsande, did feature in that match and is still in the squad to face Bafana.
Both strikers are yet to register an official goal for Chiefs in the new season, which could be the reason why both weren’t selected to face Mozambique. Nonethess, Musona appears to be showing signs that he's close to gettting back to his best for the club.
The two players will now have a chance to impress if they get a chance to feature against Bafana on Tuesday night. In particular, Musona could have added motivation to do well as it was his excellent performance against Bafana in 2011 which led to a 2-1 win for Zimbabwe.
The match could also provide Nkhatha with some much-needed game time, as he looks to sharpen up and get himself up to speed back at club level.
Meanwhile, Bafana will be full of confidence after their convincing 4-1 triumph against Botswana in their final World Cup qualifying match.
The game takes place at 20:30 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
Zimbabwe squad to face Bafana: Munyaradzi Diya, Hardlife Zvirekwi, Eric Chipeta, Patson Jaure, Danny Phiri, Masimba Keen Mambare, Cuthbert Malajila, Washington Arubi, Felix Chindungwe, Carlington Nyadombo, Oscar Machapa, Knowledge Musona, Kingston Nkhatha, Onismor Bhasera, Eusebio Manuwere, Khama Billiat, Denver Mukamba, Peter Moyo.
