Kaizer Chiefs striking starlet, Brendan Konki, has scored again for the club's U17 team. The crew recently reported that the budding teenage sensation was nearing the 40-goal mark in the Safa Soweto Regional League in which the team plays.
So far in the campaign the striker is said to have recorded six hat-tricks and five braces. The player recently added another goal to his tally when he was on target in Chiefs U17's 2-1 defeat to Midas last Saturday (19 October).
It was a rare defeat for the U17s, who were said to be without some key players due to school commitments. However, the loss isn't significant as the team are expected to be crowned winners of their region in due course.
The crew first reported on Konki earlier this season following some promising performances in Chiefs' youth development ranks. The player appears to be showing plenty of potential but it is still very early days in his young career and placing massive expectations on his shoulders would be unwise.
The success of the junior side must come as a boost as the club look to continue to implement a progressive youth development policy.
