Kaizer Chiefs' development sides continue to show some impressive form in the Safa Soweto Regional League in which the club’s junior teams play.
The Siya crew recently reported on the club's table-topping U17 side and highlighted that prolific young striker, Brendan Konki, might be a name to look out for in future.
Konki's goalscoring exploits for the club's U17 side have seen the teenager score close to 40 goals in the Soweto Regional League. Chiefs' official website are reporting that the young hit-man was in action again as he recorded yet another brace in an 8-0 demolition job of Sporting FC.
Coach Arthur Zwane's charges handed out the thrashing at the Nike Centre in Soweto last Saturday (12 October). Konki's two-goal return means that he has now recorded six hat-tricks and five braces.
It appears youth development is something the club has emphasised of late. Recently Chiefs' U19 players, Philani Cele, Chris Matombo, Pule Ekstein and Surprise Khopotse, were all involved with the first team in the Macufe Cup.
The loss of the talented foursome to the first team seems to have affected the U19 side who lost 3-2 to MD Spartans in the Castle League last Sunday (13 October). Nonetheless, there appear to be plenty of positive signs that Chiefs' youth development strategy is on track.
