Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Ugandan defender, Ivan Bukenya, on a free transfer.
It was reported by the Siya crew earlier this morning that the club were likely to make a decison on the Ugandan at some point this week, and it now appears that they have done so.
Bukenya is primarily a central defender, although can also be used as a defensive midfielder if needed there.
The former SC Erbil defender started training with the Amakhosi earlier this month, playing 90 minutes for them in a recent friendly win over Moroka Swallows.
Speaking to Chiefs' official website the defender said, ”I received a warm welcome from the player and everyone at The Village. The Captain (Itumeleng Khune) is forever happy and has been supportive. There is a spirit of love and peace in the team and I am looking forward to a great time here.”
Bukenya, whose physical presence could be a real attribute in the CAF Champions League, has been given a two-year deal by Kaizer Chiefs with an option for another two years should both parties agree.
