Kaizer Chiefs defender, Keegan Ritchie, is being rested after picking up a minor injury to his ankle in training on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old serves as Stuart Baxter’s second choice left-back, after Tsepo Masilela, and with Masilela’s problems with injury, the Amakhosi head coach will be eager to have Ritchie available should something happen to his first-choice.
While Ritchie’s injury is not believed to be a serious one, it seems that Chiefs are taking precautions so that he can fully recover from his injury before he resumes training.
Meanwhile, Baxter also has new signing, Simphiwe Mtsweni, at his disposal should Ritchie not come right with his injury, however he is likely to be cautious in exposing the talented youngster to life in the PSL too soon.
The Amakhosi take on Mpumalanga Black Aces in their first game of the season on Friday night as they begin their PSL title defence.
