Andile Jali’s decision to choose Mamelodi Sundowns over Kaizer Chiefs was not about the money, that’s according to his agent, Mike Makaab.
The 28-year-old was confirmed by Masandawana earlier this week, bringing to an end months of speculation, with the former Orlando Pirates star landing a long-term five-year deal with the reigning Absa Premiership champions.
Given Sundowns’ reputation as a free-spending club, there have been suggestions that Masandawana handed the Bafana Bafana international a more lucrative deal, though that has been denied.
While discussing the move with one of his followers, Makaab alluded to the fact that it was not about money, saying ‘not true, both offers were financially very similar’, and he also went on to say that ‘you can quote me on that’.
Jali will now be focused on getting himself in gear ahead of the 2018/19 season, and returning to match fitness having not played a competitive game now in over three months.
