Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, has revealed that the club is relieved and jubilant following their win over SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup.
It took a late brace from George Lebese for Chiefs to overcome Matsatsantsa in what was an until then very tight affair. However, two smart team moves led to the winger's goals and ultimately killed off the game as a contest.
In the post match press conference, Baxter expressed why he was relieved and happy that his side won. He said, "It was a typical quarterfinal game of a prestigious competition. I'm very happy to reach the semifinals. It was both a relief and jubilation. I am glad we scored two late goals after missing chances in the previous two games. The two teams didn't come out to play with the quality that was needed to win a tie."
The English coach added that Chiefs' taxing run of fixtures wasn't something that he wanted the players to use as an excuse, "I have said that before. I am on record to say, we have to do what we have to do. I will not bring that in the dressing room, I don't want the boys to feel sorry about themselves. I am happy with our players."
The Glamour Boys next match is a PSL clash with Polokwane City on Wednesday (April 16). The action gets underway from 19h30 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
